Editorial Policy — How We Test & Review

How Pediatric Picks reviews products

Every guide on this site is researched and written by Jonathan Wendeln, RN, a registered nurse with nearly a decade of acute-care experience, including cardiothoracic intensive care. That clinical background shapes one simple rule: safety evidence first, features second.

Our process

  • Safety standards before specs. We check every product category against the applicable federal and voluntary standards (CPSC rules, ASTM standards, AAP guidance) and search CPSC recall databases before a product can be recommended.
  • Primary sources. Medical and safety claims cite the AAP, CDC, CPSC, FDA, and peer-reviewed literature — not other blogs.
  • Research and owner data. We combine published-spec research with systematic analysis of verified-owner feedback to catch failure modes lab specs miss.
  • No sponsored placements. Brands cannot pay for a spot in our guides, and we do not accept free products in exchange for coverage.

How we make money

Pediatric Picks earns commissions from qualifying purchases through Amazon affiliate links, at no extra cost to you. Which products we recommend is never influenced by commission rates — many guides recommend the cheaper option outright. Full details are in our affiliate disclosure.

Updates and corrections

Product availability, prices, and safety information change. We re-verify product data on an automated schedule, review guides when standards or recalls change, and date significant updates. If you spot an error, tell us via the contact form — corrections are made promptly and transparently.
